We ranked every high school in San Diego County by how many of their seniors earn admission to the six most selective UC campuses. Preuss came second in the county, at 86.
That number is worth pausing on — not as a contest between kinds of schools, but for what it says about paths. The UC Reach Score is one metric, built on one outcome, and San Diego’s top ten reaches it by several very different routes.
The county’s private schools show up strongly: The Bishop’s School at 69, Francis Parker and La Jolla Country Day at 49 — all in the top ten, all doing excellent work, and all offering far more than any single admissions statistic can capture. The publics take their own routes to the same list: Canyon Crest Academy leads the county at 93, Westview and Del Norte tie at 74, and Preuss pairs a university campus with its first-generation mission.

The UC Reach Score counts admissions to Berkeley, UCLA, San Diego, Santa Barbara, Irvine and Davis per 100 graduating seniors.
